Politics of Hemp in Ireland

Politics of Hemp in Ireland

Our own Chris Allen of the Hemp Federation of Ireland writes about some of the challenges facing our industry today.

In this article she goes into the plant, the politics and of course the pandemic. The case to be recognised as a legitimate industry with the power to change lives is outlined and she discusses the recent FSAI "flip flop" which has seen published advice removed without trace or notice from their website. This has placed some  small businesses dealing with natural CBD products at risk, whilst at the same time allowing pure synthetic CBD products a free pass to market via big pharma.

"The FSAI report has had far-reaching consequences for the industry in Ireland and is now routinely referenced to legitimise bizarre activities across state agencies, which includes armed Gardai raiding the homes of Irish consumers who buy farmed hemp products. Hemp Federation Ireland has called repeatedly for the withdrawal of the FSAI report and for an independent enquiry into the manner of its production and publication."
